15 Must Know Tips to Rock Your New Facebook Timeline Business Page

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you will be aware that Facebook is rolling out the new timeline changes on 30th March.

I came across this brilliant article by Pam Moore of Social Media today and thought I would share it with you here.   It is clear and concise and deals very positively with the changes and how to prepare for them.  Enjoy!

Yup, Facebook did it to us again. This time they have added the new timeline to business pages. With it come both good and bad changes.  As I wrote in this earlier post “ Quit Blaming Facebook and Fix Your Own Marketing Problems” it’s important you don’t waste too much time complaining. Instead use that same negative energy and turn it into a positive. Use it as a lesson for not putting all of your social eggs in one basket!

The best thing you can do is stop complaining and get to work. The new Facebook business page timeline is here to stay at least until they decide to make the next round of changes. Might as well get use to it and make the most of it!

Below are some must know tips as well as loads of Facebook reference urls at the bottom to hopefully save you some time in case you get stuck or have further questions.

Note, there are more changes than what I included in this blog post. For this post I tried to keep it specifically focused on the “need to know” changes.

15 Must Know Tips to Rock Your New Facebook Timeline Business Page

1. Know the dates.

The new Facebook timeline is set to launch on all business pages March 30, 2012.  You can start playing with your new page now and see it in preview mode before actually pushing live. I encourage you to do this as soon as possible. Don’t wait until the last minute and then be stuck with a boring page that shows you were not prepared.

2. Create a new Facebook timeline cover image.

The cover image provides amazing opportunities for branding and to visually inspire and connect with your fans. The options are endless as long as you stay within the Facebook guidelines outlined in #3 below.

Create several different timeline covers so you can provide a fresh and inspiration experience for your timeline visitors!

Image dimensions: 851 x 315

smart kid small 218x300 15 Must Know Tips to Rock Your New Facebook Timeline Business Page3. Know the Facebook cover image content guidelines (rules).

Facebook has set pretty strict guidelines for what can and can’t be displayed and communicated on the new timeline cover image.

What you CAN do:

  • Brand the heck out of your company, book or personal brand. This include brand images, logos, photos and any other visual marks.
  • Inspire your audience with visually appealing graphics, colors and images.
  • Use simple language that will help you inspire and connect with your fans.

What you can NOT do: (Per Facebook cover guidelines)

  • Price or purchase information, such as “40% off” or “Download it at our website”
  • Contact information, such as web address, email, mailing address or other information intended for your Page’s About section
  • References to user interface elements, such as Like or Share, or any other Facebook site features
  • Calls to action, such as “Get it now” or “Tell your friends”

Basically the cover image is provided to inspire and connect with your fans. It is not meant for blatant self promotion or hard sales.

*Obviously make sure you have legal copyrights to all images and content.

4. No default landing tabs.

You can no longer set a tab as a default landing tab. Now before you go off on a wild rant about how terrible this is, remember this is a post designed to help you move forward and do good things with your new Facebook timeline.  Got it? Okay, great! Now here are a few things you CAN do:

  • Maximize use and space of cover image.
  • Use the unique urls of apps to direct people directly to the app from pages outside of Facebook as well as posts, status updates within Facebook.
  • Maximize use of the top apps shown underneath your cover photo.
  • Use the apps for call to actions and to engage your fans.
  • Use this as an excuse to get out of your box and focus on truly inspiring and connecting with your audience

5. Tabs are now Apps!

Apps are the new tabs. Although you can’t set one as a default landing tab for new visitors to your Facebook page, there are still many ways you can leverage apps.

  • 4 apps are always on display underneath your Facebook cover image.
  •  You can utilize a max of 14 custom apps on your timeline.
  • Create a custom thumbnail for your app. (see #7 below)
  • Apps have a unique url that can be used to drive traffic to a specific app (see #6 below).

iStock 000012552769XSmall1 300x225 15 Must Know Tips to Rock Your New Facebook Timeline Business Page
6.  Use a unique url in place of landing tabs.

Although you can no longer set a default landing tab, you can still easily get around this.  Since each app has it’s own unique url you can use the unique url to direct traffic from inside or outside of traffic to a specific app.

I suggest purchasing a unique url that you can use to drive traffic to your Facebook app of choice.  For example, I purchased the domain www.pamsfanpage.com and use to use it to direct traffic directly to my default landing tab. Now I will use it to drive traffic to an app of my choice.  The best part of using a domain that you own is that no matter how many times Facebook changes the apps, tabs, timelines, pages or other, you can stick to one or two urls that you use on a regular basis.

7. Create custom thumbnails for apps.

It is super easy to create a custom thumbnail image for each and every app. Note custom images can not be set for photos and likes.

a. Create an image that is 111  x  74 pixels.

b. Click on the arrow to the right of your timeline (underneath the cover image). It will show a number which represents the number of apps you are using.

c. Click on the arrow next to the image of the app you want to change.

d. Click on edit settings.

e. Click on change (for the image)

f. Upload the new image

iStock 000011571924XSmall3 300x300 15 Must Know Tips to Rock Your New Facebook Timeline Business Page8. Fans can now send you a private message.

You can not message your fans. The messsages are user (fan) initiated.  Messages are a good way to encourage one to one communication if you have an interest in doing such with your fans.

9. Milestones

You can set milestones for your business for current, or past dates. This is a great way to highlight key events such as grand opening, ribbon cuttings, launch of new products, new partnerships, business milestones and achievements.  Milestone images are 843 x 403 pixels.

a. Click Milesone in the sharing bar at the top of your page

b. Add a headline, date, location and details

c. Choose to add a photo

d. Click Save

10. Highlighted Posts.

You can set any post to be highlighted which means it will take up both sides of the page. I know, the name “highlight” just doesn’t make sense to me either. I expected to see some type of real highlight. This feature enables you to bring special attention to a particular post within the timeline.

11. Pinned Posts.

You can set a post to be pinned to the top of the page. Pinned posts will stay on top of your timeline for up to 7 days.If possible, try not to wait the full 7 days before you change out the post unless you have a very important message to share. Chances are you have repeat visitors coming to your page throughout the week. Give them something new and fresh to check out.

iStock 000014250706XSmall1 300x225 15 Must Know Tips to Rock Your New Facebook Timeline Business Page12. Like button and interest lists.

The like button will now show as “liked” for all fans who have already liked the page.

There are also new interest lists that can be accessed with a simple hover of the like / liked button.  You can create your own list as well as subscribe to lists the page owner has created.

Users can also select if they want to see your posts in their timeline right from your Facebook timeline by hovering over the same like button.

I will do more research on these feature and provide further detail in a subsequent post.

13. Know the required image sizes.

iStock 000016860317XSmall 300x225 15 Must Know Tips to Rock Your New Facebook Timeline Business PageNo need to over complicate this. Note the required image sizes and jot them down on a sticky. Stick it to your computer monitor and you won’t have to look them up or worry about forgetting them.

  • Cover photo: 851 x 315
  • Profile picture: 180 x 180
  • Thumbnail image for apps: 111 x 74
  • Highlighted & milestone images: 843 x 403
  • Images within wall posts display as 404 x 404.

14. It’s what happens after the “like” that matters most.

Don’t get too hung up on all these changes. If you are focusing on only “likes” then you have much bigger problems than the Facebook default tab going away.

As I always say, it is what happens after the like that matters most. Check out this post I wrote in December, 2010 which still stands true today for tips to engage your audience after the like!  “What Happens After the Facebook Like? 20 Tips to Engage Your Audience After the Like!

15.  Don’t freak out.

The worst thing you can do is go into “freak out” mode. If you are completely freaked out over these changes then you really need to do the “double think” on your online marketing strategy. Remember, you do not own Facebook. Facebook can make any changes they see fit, whenever they decide to do so. It is a free platform and although you may have put too much weight into the platform for the success of your business, use the anxiety you feel today as a positive to move at least a few eggs out of the Facebook basket. Putting all your eggs in one basket is never a good thing, particularly when it is a basket you do not own!

Should You Promote Residual Affiliate Programs?

Should You Promote Residual Affiliate Programs?

Greetings.

Are you a webmaster in need of additional income?
Or are you planning to set up an online business
but you still don't have any product to sell?

If so, affiliate marketing may be the best solution
for your problems. With affiliate marketing, you
won't need to worry about the products you have
to sell. All you need to have is a website with
sufficient contents related to the products
of a certain online company offering affiliate
programs. By becoming a member of the program,
or by becoming an affiliate, you can start earning
a certain amount of money right away!

At the end of this piece you'll see how you can
totally automate the process for phenomenal results.

Affiliate marketing is a business relationship
established between a merchant and an affiliate.
In affiliate marketing, an affiliate agrees to
direct some traffic to a merchant's website.

If that traffic is converted into some kind of
action, like a visitor purchasing a product on
the merchant's website or a visitor becoming a
lead for the company, the affiliate who directed
the traffic will be compensated.

Compensation may take the form of either a percentage
sales commission for the sales generated or a
fixed fee predetermined upon the application of
the affiliate on the merchant's affiliate program.

Promising a lot of benefits both for the merchants
and the affiliates, affiliate marketing has become
one of the most popular online marketing methods
today. In fact, almost every merchant or retailer
site today offers an affiliate program that any one
can join into. Most retailers would entice people
to become affiliates or members of their program by
promising great benefits like large commissions,
lifetime commissions, click through incomes and alot
of other benefits. But would all these affiliate
programs bring off the same benefits?

Most affiliate programs would pay you, as an
affiliate, a one-time commission for every sale
or lead you brought to the merchant's website.
Commissions for this kind of affiliate programs
are usually large, ranging from 15% to a high of
about 60%. Other affiliate programs would pay
you a fixed fee for every click through or traffic
you send to the merchant's site. Programs like
this often pay a smaller fee for every click
through, usually not getting any larger than
half a dollar. The good thing about this kind
of program, however, is that the visitor won't
have to purchase anything in order for the
affiliate to get compensated.

Another type of affiliate program is the residual
income affiliate program. Residual affiliate
programs usually pay only a small percentage of
sales commission for every sale directed by the
affiliate to the merchant's site. This commission
often comes only in the range of 10% to 20% sales
commission. Because of this, many people ignore
residual affiliate program and would rather opt
for the high paying one-time commission affiliate
program. Are these people making a mistake, or
are they making the right decision?

We can't tell, for sure, if people are making a
mistake by choosing a high paying one-time
commission affiliate program. But we can
definitely say that they are making a large
mistake if they ignore residual affiliate
programs. Residual affiliate programs would
indeed pay at a lower rate, but merchants
offering such kind of programs would generally
pay you regular and ongoing commissions for a
single affiliate initiated sale! That means,
for the same effort you made in promoting a
particular affiliate program, you get paid only
once in a one-time commission program, and a
regular and ongoing commission for a residual
program!

So, are the benefits of promoting residual
affiliate programs clearer to you now? Or
are they still vague? If they are still vague,
then let's make them a bit clearer with this
example.

Suppose there are two online merchants both
offering web hosting services on their sites.
The first merchant offers a one-time commission
type of affiliate program that pays $80 for
every single affiliate initiated sale. The
second merchant also offers an affiliate program,
but this time a residual affiliate program
that pays only $10 for every single affiliate
initiated sale. As an affiliate, we may get
attracted at once at what the first merchant
is offering, as $80 is definitely a lot larger
than $10. But by thinking things over before
actually getting into them, one may be able
to see that the second merchant is offering
us more opportunity to earn a larger amount
of money.

Supposing you have directed traffic to the
merchant and it converted into a sale, you'll
get paid once by the first merchant for the
sale you have initiated. But with the second
merchant, you'll get paid monthly for as long
as the customer you have referred to the merchant
continues to avail of the web hosting service.
That means that for the same effort of getting
one customer to avail of the merchant's service,
you get paid monthly in residual affiliate
programs while you only get paid once in a
one-time commission type of affiliate programs.

So, are residual affiliate programs worth promoting?
Definitely yes, because you virtually get more
money from these types of affiliate programs in
the long run! And would residual affiliate programs
work best for you? Probably not, probably yes.
It is not really for me to tell. But with the
benefits that residual affiliate marketing can
provide, it would really be unwise to ignore such
programs.

If you would like to get started, why not be led by
the hand and learn, step by step, the automated
income stream method, without breaking the bank?

Your ClickBank Freedom Formula

Greetings.

Today’s post is a guest post on the Clickbank blog by successful internet marketer, Simon Hodgkinson.  It details the issues to have in mind when considering affiliate marketing and is a must-read for all budding internet entreprenuers.

Author: Molly Lane, ClickBank | October 21st, 2010

Written by: Simon Hodgkinson, Guest Author

The secret to becoming a successful affiliate marketer: WORK BACKWARDS

This might seem odd so let me explain…

Over the last few years, we’ve generated millions in commissions and taught thousands of budding affiliate marketers how to make more money online. After many unsuccessful attempts, we finally realized what we were doing wrong.

Statistics show there’s a 95% chance that you aren’t as successful at affiliate marketing as you’d like to be, and even if you’re doing great, by simply applying the little ‘mind shift’ I’m about to share with you, you’ll be able to take your current success to an entirely new level.

Before you begin any promotional campaign you need to identify your end goal.

Think about it for a second, and ask yourself why are you even working as an affiliate in the first place? Although affiliate marketing can be fun, making money is essential.

Like everyone else, you’re an affiliate because you need the money. Making car payments, paying bills such as rent or mortgage, family vacations or the 101 different things that factor into our cost of living add up.

One of the biggest problems is that most people never sit down and add the cost of all these expenses. Once you begin to crunch those numbers and figure out exactly what it takes to live without the worry of how much things cost, or where the money for the next bill is coming from, is when you will start to see the true power of affiliate marketing.

The revelation is that affiliate marketing doesn’t just have the power to make you some ‘extra cash,’ it has the power to set you free!

So how do we start? First you need to know how much you need (pretty simple right). ☺

Grab a notebook and make a list of everything you spend money on each month. At the top of your sheet, you want to write “living expenses.” Go through the fixed costs that you have each month (everything should go in here, rent/mortgage, car payments, cell phone, utilities, food etc.).

Then you want add in your entertainment expenses (the fun stuff!). You can estimate the monthly costs but include things like movies, eating out, monthly mini-vacations etc. Next combine your living expenses with your entertainment costs and you’ll have a total monthly expense figure. Got it?

Don’t underestimate the power of doing this. This has been the number one exercise we ask our coaching students to do because affiliate marketing is not the be all and end all – it’s the tool that gets you there. Without the end goal, you don’t have any kind of way to evaluate your progress!

Let’s work an example: Say $5,000 is the amount you need each month. If your affiliate income can match $5,000 (which is peanuts compared to what you can do if you really push things), you’ll have all of your expenses covered!

Now it’s just a matter of building your system that will generate this income for you automatically, every month. We need to calculate how many sales we need to achieve our income goal. What I want you to do is take your income goal and divide it by the net amount of commission you plan to make with each sale.

For example, let’s say that we’re going to make $30 per sale. $5,000 divided by $30 is equivalent to 166 sales a month. When you break that down, it’s just 6 sales a day.

Now, if you think it’s hard to sell 6 ClickBank products a day, just understand that there are people who can sell 150 ClickBank products a day and more. What I’m talking about here doesn’t even take into account rebills and future payments and how they can compound over time!

So how much traffic do we need to get to those 6 sales?

Just take the monthly number of sales you need (which was 166), and divide that by the vendor’s sales page conversion rate.
We can make a quick assumption that sales page conversion rate will be around the industry standard of 2%. Then, we divide the total number of sales we need by .02, and see what we get from that. Don’t worry if you don’t want to do all the calculations right now, I have handy ‘one click’ resource for you coming up at the end. ☺

For example: 166 / 0.02 = 8,300 unique visitors a month. Break that down and it becomes just 277 unique visitors a day.
The point is, with this formula you’ll know how to figure out exactly how much traffic you need to reach that goal, and vice-versa. If you know how much traffic you site is getting right now, you can reverse the calculation to determine which programs to promote based on commission amounts. It’s not just random numbers floating around anymore!

You have a target to aim for!

Well, kind of. That’s the number of visitors you need to get to the vendor’s page (the page of the person you’re promoting), however, you’ll probably want to send them to your own site first, and then get them to the vendor’s site. In a perfect world you could get every visitor to go from your site to your vendor’s page (that would be a 100% conversion rate), but it’s not a perfect world. So the big question is how many do you actually need to come to your site to reach your goal?

For a quick and dirty answer just divide the number by 0.3 (this is a 30% conversion rate from your site to a vendor’s site). Although you may be able to achieve a higher conversion rate (we have pages that covert to 40%-50%), we will estimate on the conservative side. So, 8,300 / 0.3 is 27,666 and that’s the traffic we would need to reach the goal in our example. The next step is to take that 27,666 and divide it by 30. That tells us how many visitors per day we need to arrive at our own website. That’s 922 visitors a day.

And that’s everything you need for financial freedom! Beautiful how this works isn’t it?

Conclusion:

Why You Should Promote Residual Affiliate Programs

Greetings.

Are you a webmaster in need of additional income?
Or are you planning to set up an online business
but you still don’t have any product to sell?
If so, affiliate marketing may be the best solution
for your problems.  With affiliate marketing, you
won’t need to worry about the products you have
to sell.  All you need to have is a website with
sufficient contents that are related to the products
of a certain online company offering affiliate
programs.  By becoming a member of the program,
or by becoming an affiliate, you can start earning
a certain amount of money right away!

At the end of this piece you’ll see how you can
totally automate the process for phenomenal results.

Affiliate marketing is some sort of business
relationship established between a merchant and
his affiliates.  In affiliate marketing, an
affiliate agrees to direct some traffic to a
merchant’s website.  If that traffic is converted
into some kind of action, like a visitor purchasing
a product on the merchant’s website or a visitor
becoming a lead for the company, the affiliate
who directed the traffic will be compensated.
Compensation may take the form of either a percentage
sales commission for the sales generated or a
fixed fee predetermined upon the application of
the affiliate on the merchant’s affiliate program.

Promising a lot of benefits both for the merchants
and the affiliates, affiliate marketing has become
one of the most popular online marketing methods
today.  In fact, almost every merchant or retailer
site today offers an affiliate program that any one
can join into.  Most retailers would entice people
to become affiliates or members of their program by
promising great benefits like large commissions,
lifetime commissions, click through incomes and alot
of other benefits.  But would all these affiliate
programs bring off the same benefits?

Most affiliate programs would pay you, as an
affiliate, a one-time commission for every sale
or lead you brought to the merchant’s website.
Commissions for this kind of affiliate programs
are usually large, ranging from 15% to a high of
about 60%.  Other affiliate programs would pay
you a fixed fee for every click through or traffic
you send to the merchant’s site.  Programs like
this often pay a smaller fee for every click
through, usually not getting any larger than
half a dollar.  The good thing about this kind
of program, however, is that the visitor won’t
have to purchase anything in order for the
affiliate to get compensated.

Another type of affiliate program is the residual
income affiliate program.  Residual affiliate
programs usually pay only a small percentage of
sales commission for every sale directed by the
affiliate to the merchant’s site.  This commission
often comes only in the range of 10% to 20% sales
commission.  Because of this, many people ignore
residual affiliate program and would rather opt
for the high paying one-time commission affiliate
program.  Are these people making a mistake, or
are they making the right decision?

We can’t tell, for sure, if people are making a
mistake by choosing a high paying one-time
commission affiliate program.  But we can
definitely say that they are making a large
mistake if they ignore residual affiliate
programs.  Residual affiliate programs would
indeed pay at a lower rate, but merchants
offering such kind of programs would generally
pay you regular and ongoing commissions for a
single affiliate initiated sale!  That means,
for the same effort you made in promoting a
particular affiliate program, you get paid only
once in a one-time commission program, and a
regular and ongoing commission for a residual
program!

So, are the benefits of promoting residual
affiliate programs clearer to you now?  Or
are they still vague?  If they are still vague,
then let’s make them a bit clearer with this
example.

Suppose there are two online merchants both
offering web hosting services on their sites.
The first merchant offers a one-time commission
type of affiliate program that pays $80 for
every single affiliate initiated sale.  The
second merchant also offers an affiliate program,
but this time a residual affiliate program
that pays only $10 for every single affiliate
initiated sale.  As an affiliate, we may get
attracted at once at what the first merchant
is offering, as $80 is definitely a lot larger
than $10.  But by thinking things over before
actually getting into them, one may be able
to see that the second merchant is offering
us more opportunity to earn a larger amount
of money.

Supposed you have directed traffic to the
merchant and it converted into a sale, you’ll
get paid once by the first merchant for the
sale you have initiated.  But with the second
merchant, you’ll get paid monthly for as long
as the customer you have referred to the merchant
continues to avail of the web hosting service.
That means that for the same effort of getting
one customer to avail of the merchant’s service,
you get paid monthly in residual affiliate
programs while you only get paid once in a
one-time commission type of affiliate programs.

So, are residual affiliate programs worth promoting?
Definitely yes, because you virtually get more
money from these types of affiliate programs in
the long run!  And would residual affiliate programs
work best for you?  Probably not, probably yes.
It is not really for me to tell.  But with the
benefits that residual affiliate marketing can
provide, it would really be unwise to ignore such
programs.

income stream method?

5 Top Traffic Sources For Your Site

Greetings.

I’ve been off-line for a while visiting the outside world at various seminars.  I’m attending another this week – The World Internet Marketing Summit which is being held in London, UK this year.

Next week I’ll be attending the Women’s Millionaire BootCamp, also in London.  I’m sure I’ll have lots of nuggets to share with you all after those events.

Today I came across an interesting article by Titus Hoskins and thought I’d post it here – He writes:

5 Top Traffic Sources For Your Site

I believe if you asked any webmaster or online marketer what their most important aspect of running a site would be, you would get an answer that’s some way related to traffic. Mainly because traffic is your site’s lifeblood, actually without traffic you really don’t have a site at all.

Traffic is king.

Traffic brings in the leads and the sales. Quality traffic is what produces your online revenue, whether from advertising or from sales on your site. Now, I have sites which get less than 50 visitors a day, I have a few sites which get around 200 visitors and I have one site which gets around 2,000 visitors a day.

Don’t jump to any conclusions, some days the site getting 50 visitors can make just as much as the site getting 2,000 visitors. It all has to do with the quality of the traffic and how well it converts into a sale. And of course, it all depends on what you’re selling… a lcd cleaning kit for $20 bucks or a gaming laptop which sells for $2000+.

Regardless, you have to get that traffic in the first place if you want to earn an online income. The more traffic you have, usually, the more you will make; at least this has been my experience. Since traffic is very important to me, I keep a lot of records and stats on where my traffic is coming from on the web. I have to know what produces the quality traffic and how to get it.

So below I have listed down my 5 most important traffic sources and/or the marketing techniques I use to get that traffic. This list might also help you with your own traffic and how you can increase it. Here are my 5 main traffic sources…

1. SEO and the Search Engines

The majority of the traffic to my sites comes from the search engines, mainly Google. It is my high rankings for my targeted keyword phrases which bring in the most and the best quality traffic to my sites. Get the SEO right and build a lot of quality one-way links from related sites and you will get the traffic.

Another tactic, don’t just create a website with only 10 or 20 pages – create one with 1000 to 5000 pages. I know this takes time but consider your site like a long-term business which you will keep building for years. Produce plenty of quality content and you will get plenty of quality visitors in return. Works for me.

2. Article Marketing

Another very effective way to bring in quality traffic to your site or sites is article marketing. Just write short articles related to your site’s keywords and place your keyworded links in the resource box. Distribute these articles all over the web.

Right now, what is working for me, is writing unique articles which I only place on one important site. I am using this technique with sites like SiteProNews, Buzzle and many more. Article marketing is still one of the most effective ways to get quality traffic, just try it.

3. PPC – Pay Per Click Advertising

I know, I know, this can be very expensive but PPC can be the quickest way to get quality traffic to your sites. Just be careful and approach it with kid’s gloves until you find campaigns which work for you – then scale them up.

Microsoft Adcenter and Yahoo Marketing have now joined forces and I find this is producing good traffic for me. Google Adwords is probably better but they are a real pain to work with and have become too expensive, at least for my keywords. But if you have the resources, don’t rule out Adwords or any of the PPC programs.

4. Social Media Sites

From Facebook to Twitter to LinkedIn, social media sites can provide a lot of traffic and word of mouth advertising for your site. For me, even though I haven’t worked these sites to their fullest potential, I still get traffic from them. Getting your pages bookmarked in some of these sites can bring in a flood of traffic overnight, while most of this traffic will be temporary, you can get a lot of sign-ups to your newsletter and different follow-up lists. While not exactly in the same group, I have had some success with YouTube videos which also bring in targeted traffic. Don’t ignore these social media and video sites in your traffic strategies.

5. Email Marketing and Follow-up Lists

This is another one of my major sources of “repeat visitors” to my sites. You must be constantly building up your different contact lists for further follow-up. This will bring in more visitors than you would expect, especially if you put some simple viral messages in your emails. If you supply valuable information, people will recommend your content to friends and co-workers; again word of mouth can bring in a lot of traffic especially in this age of Facebook and Twitter.

Of course, there are many more traffic sources such as Press Releases, Banner Ads, RSS Feeds, Off-line Advertising… and if you have your own products to promote, affiliates and joint ventures will be your most valuable source of traffic. Over the years I have picked up a lot of information on traffic and traffic tips… some of the best places/people for this has been:

freetraffictip.com – run by Tinu Abayomi-Paul, one of my best sources for free traffic tips. Excellent.

trafficology.com – this site and newsletter gives you off-beat ways to build traffic to your site. Highly Recommended.

trafficsecrets.com – if this one is still open, John Reese has a few very good products on traffic. Recommended if you can afford it.
